“Wow! I feel good, like I knew I would!
I feel good, like I knew I would!
So good!
So good!
Cause I got juiced!”
No, I am not channeling James Brown.
I feel good because I just finished drinking a large glass of beet, kale, celery and pear juice
and I am grooving on a natural high from all of the powerful nutrients I ingested!
That’s why I love to drink fresh, organic juices!
I’ve found that juicing is a wonderful way to bring a renewed sense of health, energy and
vitality to my life.
Like me, many people turn to juicing in order to get more nutritious fruits and vegetables
into their diets.
Embrace the Joy of Juicing!
Juicing provides numerous healthy benefits– especially if you don’t eat enough fruits
and vegetables–like my husband, for example.
It’s a quick and convenient way to ingest more vegetable and fruit nutrients.
In fact, I know moms with children who are picky eaters, who make tasty juices for
their families to boost their nutritional intake, painlessly!
You can also use up fruits and vegetables that are about to spoil by adding them to juices.
Some people have found weight loss success with juicing–when it is done properly.
And best of all, nutrients from specific produce can help prevent disease.
The Whole Truth…
In spite of it’s numerous benefits, juicing should not be considered a replacement for
whole fruits and vegetables in your regular diet.
Juicing provides the same vitamins, minerals and phytonutrients that are found in whole
fruits and vegetables–but without the fiber–and fiber is important.
Instead, you should drink fresh fruit and vegetable juices as an additional measure for
keeping yourself healthy and fit.
It’s important to use organic fruits and vegetables as much as possible in your juicing.
Organic fruits and vegetables have not been exposed to the chemical fertilizers and
pesticides used in traditional farming.
If you cannot use organic produce, be sure to peel and thoroughly wash all of your
produce before you put it into the juicer.
The peel will contain most of the harmful chemicals.
Try to use locally-grown fruits and vegetables in your juicing.
I love to buy organic produce from the farmers at my local farmer’s market.
Of course, the best option is to use produce that you’ve grown yourself.
Every mile that a piece of fruit needs to be transported to get to you, increases the
carbon footprint of your glass of juice.
It also increases the chance of your produce becoming contaminated with bacteria
or chemicals.
Health Benefits Of Juicing
For people who do not like to eat whole fruits and vegetables, juicing can serve as an
effective alternative.
Having a glass of mixed fruit and vegetable juice early in the morning, not only supplies
essential vitamins, enzymes, and minerals to your body, but also revitalizes and provides
substantial energy for a busy day.
Apart from this, there are many other health benefits of juicing:
•Easy Digestion
People who are unable eat fresh fruit and vegetables because of digestive problems
can consume them in juice form.
This makes digestion easy, as juices are already in a “pre-digested” form.
Some experts advise slowly “chewing your juice” to maximize nutritional benefits.
Juicing helps you receive all the important nutrients required to keep your body
healthy without applying any unnecessary pressure on the digestive system.
•Diversity
Be it at home or at a restaurant, many of us are used to eating the same salads and fruits
every day because they are our favorites.
I must admit I am guilty of that myself!
Juicing vegetables and fruits that you do not normally eat results in a more balanced diet.
•Balanced Diet
Juicing with a wide variety of fruits and vegetables can increase intake of nutrients, and
specifically the all-important plant-based phytochemicals that help prevent disease.
•Weight Loss
May people turn to juicing to aid their weight loss efforts.
Drinking fresh fruit and vegetable juice provides essential levels of vitamin C to the bloodstream
that helps to support the body’s immune system and reduce obesity.
•Instant Energy
Juicing almost instantly increases your energy levels, as compared to eating them raw.
By drinking juices you can completely eliminate the time required to digest raw food, thus
giving you an almost instant ‘energy kick.’
That’s the natural high I was singing about earlier!
•Supports Immune System
Antioxidants along with phytochemicals play an important role in developing our immune system.
Varying our diet on a regular basis and consuming juices made from different kinds of fruits and
vegetables will significantly increase the number of phytochemicals and antioxidants in the blood,
which in turn assist in developing a better immune system and also protect cells from damage
caused by free radicals.
•Repairs Vital Organs
Fresh fruit and vegetable juice can help repair most vital organs of our body.
For example, carrot juice is capable of repairing the liver, intestines and kidneys.
Antioxidants present in carrots, such as, beta-carotene, are known to protect liver and kidneys
from cholesterol and other toxins.
Consuming carrot juice regularly can also delay the aging process.
It is also capable of fighting cholesterol and poisonous toxins that often get accumulated in the intestines,
and flushes them out of the body.
•Purifies and Enriches Blood
Blood is the fuel that provides us with the necessary energy to perform our daily routines.
Blood requires as many nutrients as possible to cope with the workload that is placed on it.
Drinking various kinds of juices made from fruits and vegetables not only purifies the blood,
but also enriches it.
People who have less red blood cells or insufficient hemoglobin to carry oxygen, often suffer
from anemia.
Juices made from fresh leafy green vegetables that are rich in iron can help fight anemia.
•Memory
Studies indicate that by drinking fresh vegetable and fruit juices regularly, you can increase
your memory considerably.
Findings from the ‘Kames Project’ indicated that people who drink juice at least three times a week,
lessen the chances of developing Alzheimer’s disease by 76%, compared to those who take it only
once a week.
You don’t have to tell me this twice!
The Joy of Juicing Beets
One of my favorite vegetables to juice is beets.
I never liked to eat the beets my mom prepared for us as a child, but once I discovered beet juice,
I developed a new appreciation for this healthy vegetable from the taproot of the beet plant.
One of the cultivated varieties of the Beta vulgaris plant, beets are used as food, for food coloring
and also for various medicinal purposes.
They make great juicing vegetables because they add a powerful nutritional punch.
Beets are a:
Very good source of: Vitamin C, Vitamin K and Potassium.
Good source of: Folate, Fiber, Potassium and Manganese.
Juicing Prep:
It is best to peel the beets for juicing to avoid the commonly tasted “muddy” aftertaste.
Make slices to fit the opening of the juicer.
The stalks can be juiced too.

Who knew there were so many ways to juice a beet! I love juicing. Thanks for the ebook too!
Hi,
I am so glad that you enjoyed these recipes! Have fun juicing with the recipes in the ebook!
Oh my. So many new recipes. Love the blackberry beet. I tend not to use blackberry because I don’t like that little seed BUT I can just envision the beautiful colors and how they are lighting my insides up. Thanks. Downloading the book.
Hi Patricia,
I am so delighted that you enjoyed these beet juice recipes. I hope you have fun making lots of healthy and delicious juice combos!
I love your juicing ideas! I’m so obsessed with adding ginger to everything right now! You should try grapefruit, blood orange, and ginger; my absolute favorite! Love the little song too!
‘
Wow! Thanks for all these recipes. I didn’t know you could juice the stalk of the beet, very interesting. I also hadn’t considered that juicing removes the fiber from the produce, but it does make sense. Great article!
I LOVE juicing but have never tried beet juice before because, well, I’ve never had beets! Ok, I take that back. When I was little my mom made beets for dinner and we couldn’t leave the table until we are our beets. I hated them. So, I might be carrying that memory with me now. Haha! I actually got two beets in my Farmbox delivery this week so I think I will try one of your recipes!
I love reading posts like yours, where the blogger spikes an actually useful post with some personality. So many creative ways to juice beets, who knew? Love the song! I have been been obsessed with smoothies for a while, and I am currently shopping for a juicer to try juicing, too. Which one do you use?
I’m like Becky, was forced to eat beets, and I hated them then, and still do now. I’m more for fruit juices. Like the sweeter tastes, but I think I need to research, just how much natural sugars are in them.
What an informative article packed with recipes! I pinned for future reference. I have only tried a few juicing recipes, but this has definitely inspired me to try more. Goodness knows I can use all the health benefits. Thank you!
I am growing my own organic beets this year so these recipes will come in handy – Thanks for linking up to Pin Worthy Wednesday, I have pinned your post to the Pin Worthy Wednesday Pinterest Board.
Great recipes, I’m not a big beet eater but I’m going to try one of your recipes. I have a Nutribullet, I know it’s not the same as juicing but similar health benefits. Thanks for the post!
I love fresh juices! I feel light and energized and they are especially great after traveling and being away from home for while. The only ingredient I haven’t been able to develop a like for is carrots. I know how good they are, but I think it’s the texture that gets me.
Wow! Love all of the juice recipes! I’ve never really been much of a juicer. I’ve never had one and many of my friends complain they are annoying to use as they use a ton of veggies for little juice and are a pain to clean. But I do love the way fresh juice tastes and makes you feel! And it’s so healthy and nutritious =)
ps. Thank you so much for contributing this to Healthy Vegan Fridays – this post will be featured this coming Friday. I am pinning this to the Pinterest Board and eagerly await to see what you share this week =)
You know, I HATE beets! But just yesterday I visited a brand new raw juice bar that just opened in our neighborhood and had beet juice, cucumber, carrots, ginger and apple. It was DELISH! I think I’m hooked! love all these recipes. Still digging in my heels about buying a big ole clunky juicer.
Wow, thanks! I’ve used carrots as a base, but never beets. Since I’m growing blackberries, I might have to try the blackberry and beet recipe. What are your thoughts on smoothies as an alternative to juicing, since they also include the fiber?
We juice it up in our house, but have never added beets to the mix. We have some now, so I’ll have to try some of your recipes out!
I have never added beets to my juices and it looks like it would taste so yummy! I definitely favorited this post as I know I will be referring to it a lot now that I’m trying to incorporate more juices and smoothies into my daily intake. Thanks much!
Okay so I don’t call myself a juicer. I mean if I make my kids a strawberry smoothie I always throw in a handful of fresh spinach – far from juicing but it’s kind of a start right? I know it is super healthy and have wanted to try it. I think you might have just talked me into it! The benefits are amazing and I do want my kids and my husband and I to be a whole lot healthier than we are. Do you recommend juicers for families with kids? We don’t have lots of extra income so something inexpensive but not cheaply made – and if it can make the juice cold and yummy like a smoothie type I bet it would go over a lot better with my kids. Am I being too picky? I really should read more of your stuff to get more info! In fact I’ll go do some research now! Thanks for the info on this post!
I drink a green juice daily and beets are one of my favorite ingredients. Your recipes look delicious.
Yum, there are so many great ideas here! Beetroot is onenofnmy favourite additions to juice 🙂
WOW! I need to dust off my juicer and buy some beets! These recipes look so yummy, especially in this muddy part of winter, when my body is craving fresh veggies!
Beet juice with apple and ginger looks delicious, thanks for sharing with Hearth and soul blog hop, pinning and tweeting.
This was very informative I loved it soo much
Hi Deborah,
What a wonderful article you have composed. I love all the recipes great recipes for juicing, the nutritional values, and all the valuable information you have provided. Thanks so much for sharing it on Real Food Fridays. Pinned & twitted.
I plan on getting a new processor to get all of the fiber. I have a juicer, but there’s so much fibrous material that I end up tossing out, which I don’t like. Thanks for sharing these recipes. Pinning.
Wow, thanks for all of these amazing juicing recipes. I would love to try #2. Apple, Beet and Carrot Juice. This post came just in time for the warmer months ahead. Thanks!
My husband and I have been wanting to juice for awhile now. We are looking for a good machine. Right now we add green vegies to our morning smoothies. Kale, Spinach, cilantro. Mmmm. Thanks for sharing these recipes with us. I guess I could just throw anything together in a juicer but I much rather a tried and true recipe. Thanks for putting together this ebook as well.
I Love Beets!! Raw, Cooked, Juiced. You have definitely given us alot of new recipes to try. New flavors to experience. Thank you for sharing and Have a Fabulous Day!
Quite honestly I have never thought about juicing beets, but my husband absolutely loves them. Will pass these on to him!
Thank you for sharing on The Healthy Eating Habit link party. We appreciate you partying with us.
All of those recipes sound delicious! I might have to try some! I have always liked beets, but I don’t think I have every tried beet juice. I don’t have a juicer, but would using a blender then straining the juice work? Thanks for the great information!
I grew up on beets in the can, I guess because they were cheap but nutritious too. I don’t have a juicer so I might have that tonight for dinner. The hubby bought a can the other day and of course I turned up my nose to eating it but after reading your post, I need to go back to what my parents used to serve at home. #wowlinkup
Thanks for the great juicing recipes. I enjoy making my own, I just don’t enjoy the clean-up after that’s why I don’t do it as often as I should, not to mention I can never seem to make time (I know an issue I need to figure out with all my other issues :), but I will have to try these out and especially give them to the boyfriend since he’s on this major juicing weight loss kick.
Great resource and overview… You made me thirsty as I read this…
I love this! I’ve been on a healthy lifestyle change since Jan. 2014, and I’m always looking for healthier options. I’ve never juiced before but plan on investing in a juicer soon. I’m definitely going to save your page and refer to your recipes when I’m ready to start juicing. Thanks for this!
You’ve got some great recipes there! It’s making me think about getting a juicer. I’m one of those people who don’t eat nearly enough fruit. I’m actually allergic to all berries as well as apples and pears. And basically all other fruits have a texture I find unappealing. So I tend to avoid fruit altogether. But maybe juicing the fruits with textures I dislike will solve that problem. Thanks for sharing the benefits of juicing!
Great post! I always wanted to try out juicing. It does not looks difficult at all!
OK, you’ve made me very thirsty now!
I don’t have a juicer; you’ve made me think that I need to get one so I can enjoy these healthy juices.
Thanks!
I tend to do smoothies instead of juicing a lot to get the pulp/fiber, but some of these sound really tasty! Maybe I will need to rethink buying a juicer! Thanks for all the yummy sounding recipes!
I’m not a huge fan of beets, but your juicing recipes sound delicious! We have several juice bars that have opened in our neighborhood and your post has me excited to try them out!
I have never tried beet juice. As a matter of fact, I can’t remember ever having beets. Some of these recipes sound very good. Thanks for sharing.
Wow that’s a lot of recipes – thanks! I’m not really a juicer, but reading your post has made me more open to it. May give it a try…
I am saving this page. These recipes look so yummy. I’ve always wanted to juice but never got around to it. I’m more of a smoothie gal but these sound too tasty to ignore. And I love fresh beets, I discovered them a few years ago and couldn’t get enough. Now if I could just figure out how to make them:) Pinning this!
Wow! What a very informative post on the benefits of juicing and your taste-bud take on juicing beets and how you can make beets a tasty option for juicing! I am not a huge fan of beets myself, but maybe worth a try with some of the ingredients and options you have shared above. Thank you for your informative insight!
You inspire me to try juicing. My mom recently purchased a juicer. I will have to get her to make me something next time I visit her.
Well I’m not a beet person but I do need to start juicing, I had no idea that there were so many benefits to that. Thank you for sharing! I don’t really like my vegetables in juice form but I’ll definitely try it with some fruits.
Thank you so much for the recipes. They look delicious
This is not something that I have ever tried before, but when you mentioned Alzheimer’s Disease I was amazed. I definitely need to look into this more! My suffers from Alzheimer’s Disease and I am terrified of getting it when I get older plus I would like to find some things to keep her with me longer. We’ve switched some things in our diet like coconut oil instead of vegetable oil things like that but between the immune system help and the other it is something that I definitely need to start doing!
I am not a fan of beets, but I don’t just turn a cold shoulder to proven health benefits. I like fresh juice and I know it is good for me. I will definitely have to try some the recipes out, beet juice and all.
Thank you for this wealth of information about juicing! I have dabbled in smoothie making and had thought about looking into juicing but had never gotten around to it! I love how beneficial it can be for nutrition. I am one of those that tends to always eat the same fruits and vegetables so I like the idea of using others to make juices to drink! I will have to try this soon!
Hi Deborah,
Just a note to let you know that I have chosen your post as one of my features for this weeks Real Food Fridays blog hop that goes live Thursday @ 7pm EST. Thanks for being part of Real Food Fridays and sharing.
I love your opening! Very catchy!!!!
The list of reasons for juicing is not just excellent, but very thorough. It inspired me to get out my juicer and actually use it!
I’m glad to read the comments from a few others who admit they’ve never had beet juice or even beets before! Me either! I’ve always been a little taken aback by their intense color & figured they tasted a bit too much like dirt as many “root” vegetables do. The thought of juicing freaks me out when I watch those demos of the whole fruit or vegetable going into it…seeds, stems, etc. Ack. I’ll stick to my “safe” smoothies for now, adding in mostly fruits so far. That said, a friend of mine opened a very popular “artisan juice bar” with 3 locations (https://www.facebook.com/Jujubeet) in Seattle, Bellevue, & Redmond, WA so check them out if you’re in the area & tell Bianca I sent you! 😉
I have been considering a start to juicing. It sounds as if the possibilities are endless. I’m adding a juicer to my shopping list for next week. Thanks for breaking down the organic information. I appreciate your share.
I have done a little juicing over the years. After reading your post, I am in awe of how much information you provided. Wow! Your details are awesome and photos are beautiful. The photo of the lime with the water dripping is just stunning! (It’s my favorite!) Thank you for the e-book and such an in-depth post. I will be back to see what else you are juicing. 🙂 ~Adrienne
I love this collection! Thanks for sharing!
-Cindy
Deborah loves this share!!! I have a juicer that I should use more often and with these recipies now I am def gonna bring it out and try!
