On most mornings I start my day with a glass of warm water with fresh-squeezed
lemon juice.
Then I have a large mug of green tea with almond or hemp milk.
By this time I feel awake and ready to make my morning smoothie.
This morning I rummaged through my kitchen and rounded up a few fruits
and super foods.
Plus, I added hemp hearts and ground flax seeds for essential fatty acids.
And nutty, creamy raw almond butter kicks the whole smoothie up a notch.
The result was this recipe for my “Good Morning Sunshine Smoothie”.
It was the perfect blend of sweet and creamy with a touch of spice to kickstart
my day.
Try it, you’ll like it!
Good Morning Sunshine Smoothie
Makes 3 cups
Ingredients
1 cup Mango chunks
1 Orange
1 Banana
1/4 fresh Lemon
2 tablespoons raw Almond Butter
2 tablespoons Hemp Hearts
2 tablespoons Ground Flaxseeds
1 teaspoon Cinammon
1 cup Almond or Hemp Milk
Directions
Add liquid to blender jar.
Wash, peel and prepare fruit.
Add fruit and the rest of the ingredients to the blender.
Blend on high until smooth.
Taste and adjust as needed by adding more liquid or a bit more cinnamon.
This is how I said “Good Morning” to myself!
I grabbed my glass of “Good Morning Sunshine”, sat down with my morning paper
and the day looked a little brighter.
Life is good.

My favourite morning smoothies right now are my very berry one and the carrot, apple and ginger one I’ve just posted. Both are so packed with flavour you don’t notice how great they are for you until later when you just somehow feel like you’re kept going by them!
I’m definitely having a smoothie in the morning tomorrow but tempted to experiment with melon or pineapple (or both).
OOH, I can’t wait to try your smoothie recipes. They sound amazing! Thanks for sharing them with us!
This sounds so super delicious! I make a similar smoothie but haven’t tried adding almond butter to it. Love the sound of it and it would be a perfect breakfast =)

Ok – I made it this morning and it was FANTASTIC! I woke up kind of in a funk and this totally perked me up =) I think it was probably meant to share but I totally had the whole thing myself ;p

What a delicious looking recipe! I have only recently started the smoothie routine and I really enjoy it and can feel a difference. I’m adding a sprinkle of turmeric not so much for taste but for the amazing benefits I have read about turmeric. Can’t wait to try Good Morning Sunshine!
