The Future of the Earth is in Our Hands!

Today is World Environment Day, the biggest annual event for positive environmental action. It takes place every 5 June. The theme for World Environment Day 2017 is “Connecting People to Nature”.

“Connecting People to Nature” implores us to get outdoors and into nature, to appreciate its beauty and its importance, and to take forward the call to protect the Earth that we share.

“Today–and everyday–think

about how we are part of nature,

how intimately we depend on it and

how we can protect the Earth.”

About World Environment Day

Celebrate World Environment Day: Connecting People to Nature

World Environment Day is a day for everyone, everywhere. Since it began in 1972, global citizens have organized many thousands of events, from neighborhood clean-ups, to action against wildlife crime, to replanting forests.

This year’s theme invites you to think about how we are part of nature and how intimately we depend on it. It challenges us to find fun and exciting ways to experience and cherish this vital relationship. This year’s World Environment Day host country Canada got to choose the theme and will be at the center of celebrations around the planet.

Celebrate the Beauty and Preserve Our Environment

In honor of World Environment Day we are sharing illustrations created by Desert Marakech showing how you can connect with nature around the world – from cities to deserts. The graphics focus on mountains, deserts, grasslands, rainforests, islands and cities, looking at the best locations to enjoy the unique nature of each of these landscapes and simple measures you can take to help preserve these different terrains.
