I firmly believe that “one woman’s trash is another woman’s treasure”. An afternoon of thrift shopping and vegan food-spotting is my idea of eco-conscious fun. So, when my friend suggested lunch on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, I was delighted because that is the perfect area in which to enjoy both of my faves!
The bright, red wooden entrance to St. Francis Thrift Store–nestled in the basement of a church on 96th Street–beckoned us inside. Clean, airy and well-organized–it’s easy to navigate the counters, shelves, bins and racks of St. Francis without a lot of effort.
No plastic for me. I love to eat, drink and serve food in clay vessels as often as possible. So, as we hurried into the store, these charming, second-hand, ceramic treasures caught my attention and “slowed my roll”.
