With this harsh winter-to-spring season change, it is our skin that suffers most. Certainly, there are a number of cosmetic products we can take advantage of to smooth this transition.
Still, there’s one other thing not even the highest quality product can stop, and that’s aging. For this reason, many women opt for quick solutions – face lifts, eye surgery, rhynoplasty, etc. Although all these cosmetic surgeries proved to give excellent results, there are a number of exercises experts highlight as highly beneficial.
Are you feeling just a little bit skeptic?
We have to admit, you are not the only one, but that’s why we are here – to debunk this myth. Let us present it to you this way: there are 43 muscles in human face, and unlike the rest of your body where they sort of slide under skin, the ones on your face are attached to your skin and are connected by a network of skins, veins and capillaries.
“If you can work on strengthening all other
muscles in the gym, why can’t you
do the same for facial muscles
with natural face lift exercises?
By targeting just the right areas with regular exercises, the improvement will be evident in only several weeks.
When deep horizontal lines on your forehead are your most prominent facial feature, place both of your hands on the forehead so that they face inwards. Spread your fingers between the hairline and the brows and gently sweep the fingers outwards, applying only light pressure on the skin. Relax and repeat the movement between 5 to 10 times.
Smaller Eye Bags
To get rid of puffiness and those drooping eyelids, take both of your middle fingers and press them at the inner corner of your brows. Then use your index finger to apply light pressure to the outer corner. Now look up and raise your lower eyelids. Once you feel you’ve made a squint, relax and repeat 5 more times.
If you have deep eye hollows, place your index fingers under your eyes in such way they are pointed towards the nose. Hide your teeth with your mouth and separate your lips from each other. Now look upwards and flutter your upper eyelids for 30 seconds. This particular eye exercise should not be repeated more than once, so after you relax your face, move on to the next one.
Even if we didn’t struggle with double chin when we were younger, with age, the skin on our neck tends to sag. To tone those muscles, turn your head to one side and tip your chin upward. Now press the roof of your mouth with the tip of the tongue, smile and swallow. Then turn your head to the other side and repeat.
One other great exercise for those who have loose skin on their neck is called the Giraffe. First, look straight ahead of you and place the tips of your fingers at the bottom part of the neck to gently stroke the skin downwards. While you are doing this, you have to keep your head slightly tilted back. Relax by bringing your head down to your chest. Repeat two more times, and then extend the lower lip out as much as possible. As you are pulling the corners of the mouth down, place the finger tips on the collar bone, while your chin is directed upwards. Hold this position for 4 deep breaths and then slowly let go.
To lift those cheeks up, we recommend the Smiling Fish – make that ‘fish face’ just like you did when you were a kid, hold the position and smile. These two movements have to be done simultaneously no matter how difficult it may seem, and if done properly, you should feel a light tension in your cheek muscles. Hold the positions for 5 seconds, then let go and repeat the exercise 5 times.
To get rid of those deep cheek lines and sagging skin, cover your teeth with your lips in such way that you make an O shape with your mouth. Then smile as widely as possible while keeping those teeth hidden. Repeat this movement 5 times before moving on to the next one, which requires you to add a finger on your chin. Once you have your index finger at your chin, move the jaw up and down while keeping your head slightly tilted back.
Last, and the most exciting probably, is for the ones who just want to add a bit more volume to their lips without a botox injection – the Marilyn Monroe face. It’s just like blowing a kiss: simply pucker the lips and press them into your hand. Not only is it effective, but it’s adorable, some might feel silly, but repeat it 5 times every time you do your facial workout, and you’re bound to see results.
The Bottom Line
In conclusion, let us just say – you have to be patient, since skin types vary from one person to the other. You are going to see the improvement in the neck after about 14 days, and when it comes to lines and wrinkles, you’ll see them starting to disappear after 2 or 4 months. And you know what else – after 4 months, others will start to notice the changes as well.
Set up a schedule, set aside the time to exercise regularly, and if you stick to it, 9 months into the future we promise you will not only look much younger, but you will feel better, more refreshed and relaxed.
