There are 6 excellent reasons why you should be drinking water:
1. Your Health
Your body is approximately 60% water. This water is used in almost every process including the functioning of your cells and the creation of energy.
The only way to replenish the water used by your body is to drink more. This is why experts recommend you drink at least 2 liters per day.
2. Calorie Control
Water will help you to feel full which is a great benefit when you are counting your calories and attempting to lose weight.
Even if you are happy with your weight the water will keep you feeling full and prevent you from over eating and gaining weight.
At the same time you’ll be improving your health.
3. Muscle Power
If you don’t consume enough water then the electrolytes in your cells will effectively start to dehydrate. When this happens they won’t be able to function properly.
This means you won’t have the muscle power to complete your usual tasks or push yourself past your limits.
This is particularly relevant if you are exercising; you should drink water before, during and after exercise to keep your cells functioning properly.
Just think about how much you sweat; you need to replace that and provide water for your muscle cells!
4. Flushing Toxins
Water is an important part of toxin removal. When you drink water it goes through your kidneys and exits the body through your urine. In the process it absorbs the toxins that your kidney removes from your blood.
You can tell if you are dehydrated by looking at the color of your urine. It should be clear or pale yellow if you are fully hydrated. Darker colors mean you’re dehydrated and your kidneys are struggling to do their job properly.
This can result in kidney issues and a toxin build up which could cause an array of other illnesses.
5. Great Skin
Because your cells are made up predominantly of water it is essential for healthy looking skin. Water encourages the production of collagen which creates the elasticity in your skin.
In effect your skin is able to snap back and not show wrinkles. Deprive your body of water and your skin will start to look aged and cracked!
6. Bowel Function
Finally water is an essential part of your bowel movements. While a watery stool is undesirable, you need enough water to help the stools pass smoothly through your colon and out of your body.
This can prevent build up inside your colon which could cause other health issues.
If you’re not already drinking water, it’s time to start!
