Do you practice yoga or pilates?
Which one do you prefer?
Both yoga and pilates are extremely popular these days.
We often hear discussions about which is better and why.
Both sides of the argument have their merits and people swear by their
chosen methodology.
It can be difficult to answer the question about which is better.
It all depends on what you want to gain out of your chosen practice.
No two people are the same and everyone’s body is different.
This means that while yoga might suit one person, Pilates may suit another person.
“Your choice depends on what you
want to gain out of your chosen practice.
No two people are the same
and everyone’s body is different.”
You need to gather all the evidence and make the decision for yourself.
That is the only way you will know for sure which is right for you.
This infographic from Liquid Lifestyle helps you to make this decision.
It identifies the subtle differences between the two and identifies areas of yoga
and Pilates that are particularly effective.
In essence, the decision depends on your circumstances and what you
hope to achieve in your chosen practice.
Yoga vs Pilates: Which One is Right for Your Needs?

It was great to finally find out the which practice I should be pursuing. In reality, each individual really has to decide for themselves depending on their needs and I hope this infographic helps you make this decision.”

I use a bit of both in my routine as the 5th workout, i.e. if I’ve managed to have a few runs, maybe some HIIT then I use pilates or yoga as a recovery workout which is less impactful on joints. I have found even in HIIT exercise videos nowadays there are elements of yoga or pilates (how often do you do planks for instance?) I think whatever your ‘normal’ exercise is (for me it’s running) then mixing it up with alternatives which work different parts of your body can only be good.
Hi Heidi,
Thanks a lot for sharing your thoughts on yoga vs pilates. I agree that many of us use a bit of both in our routines. They both provide excellent benefits.
