Going out is healthy
When we spend an evening at the movies, the opera, or a fancy restaurant or bar, we tend to think of our activities as something we do just for fun. And maybe that’s the case. But whether we mean to or not, our fun times are also helping us out.
Studies show that we stay healthier and work more effectively when we take time off to enjoy ourselves. And taking a break can and should mean more than just sitting around not working. When we go out and socialize, we improve our mental health. Those of us in relationships can make our relationships better with nights out, too. Having regular date nights is essential to a healthy relationship, and science also tells us that we need activities with our friends (away from our significant other) from time to time, too.
In short, a night out is more than just a frivolous good time. It’s also a real investment in your health, your productivity, and your relationships. You weren’t made to work all the time, and there’s nothing good or productive about skipping your nights off.
Planning a night out
With all of this science backing you up, there’s no excuse not to take some time off and enjoy a great night out. Why don’t you plan one? There’s lots to do around you, even if you don’t realize it. Check out local tourist boards or search online, and look for casinos and other entertainment hotspots, according to experts at the Oregon Coast experience.
Making a plan will ensure that you have a real destination and a real schedule — you don’t want to spend your whole night floating around looking for the right restaurant or bar, do you? And planning ahead of time allows you to just relax and enjoy yourself when your big night out actually rolls around. So go ahead and make that dinner reservation or buy those show tickets now.

Making your night out special
Don’t just “be there” on your night out, really embrace it. You’ll get more out of your night out if you embrace it. Plan ahead and treat yourself to a full experience. And dress for the occasion! This doesn’t have to mean being fancy, but it does mean that your collared shirts or casual dresses should look good and be fun to wear. You want to look your best while you’re out.
You don’t have to spend big to dress the part. Just head to online boutiques, where the low prices of online shopping are mixed with the quality of brick-and-mortar clothing boutiques. And really do go out: movie night at home is nice, but it’s no substitute for the excitement and social experiences of a night on the town.
If your budget is a concern, just set one in advance. Plan things out in advance, and you won’t have to worry about money when you’re in the moment and enjoying yourself.
You deserve this
You work hard. You deserve a night off and a night out, and one would do you good. Having fun out with our friends or significant other can make us happier, healthier, and more productive. It’s a win-win for your sense of joy and your work ethic, so get out there and cut loose a little!
